A Settled Rest

After a news account yesterday of evil and indiscriminate violence in Boston, Maureen’s and my “daily lectionary” this morning offered a timely observance of the beauty of shared love and compassion.

It came from Healing After Loss (Daily Meditations for Working Through Grief) by Martha W. Hickman.

No other resource has been as helpful and healing to us in our journey through grief as this one-a-day set of reflections.  A friend had put it in my hands, and now I recommend it often for its universality and broad applicability.  During the first year after Andrew’s death, we shared copies with our loved ones so that they — who lived miles away — might be able to walk more closely with us each day.
