WordPress attacked by hackers!

Server hosters Cloudflare and Hostgator have confirmed that WordPress has been attacked by thousands of individual computers from a botnet. The targets were user admins, trying thousands of possible answers despite WordPress increasing security with an optional two-step authentication log-in. If you’re going to put a positive spin on this…..that’s kind of funny and ironic (I apologize if your website has been hacked).

If you’re familiar with website templates and platforms, WordPress powers 64m websites which is 17% of the worlds websites and is read by 371m each month (BBC, 2013). I could only dream of that amount of traffic for Total Tech. WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg advised people if they still used admin as a username, to change it and use a stronger password. Furthermore, use the new two-step authentication log-in.
